Srinagar, May 13 (KNO) : Several parts of southern kashmir on Tuesday observed complete shutdown against the imposition of toll tax. South Kashmir transporters association had called for complete shutdown for Tuesday against the levying of toll tax on national highway at Kachkoot Awantipora. Eyewitnesses told KNO that the protesting transporters were demanding exemption of toll tax for kashmir vehicles and said they will intensify their strike if the government fails to do away with levying toll tax on locals. A member of the association told KNO that transporters and business community is already going through tough times and levying toll tax is unacceptable. "The assurance given by Governor Satya Pal Malik that no toll tax will be imposed on people across jammu and Kashmir must be imposed on ground," he told KNO. Reports reaching to KNO said that whole Anantnag town is shut and no public traffic is on roads due to which people are facing immense hardships in reaching their respective destinations.(KNO)
